I just tried this on my 2023 model year (delivered Sept 2022), and it doesn't seem to work. Sort of hard to tell what he's doing but I tried holding the button down and two long presses and other random combinations and nothing happens.

I'm sorry I didn't clarify. I'm a forum sponsor and this is an activation I can do through my programming if you bring the vehicle to me in Southern California. Unfortunately I don't offer remote programming. It's hidden in the software but needs to be turned on. I also offer these activations:

If I were to get these upgrades/activations after the fact, does that void the warranty? What happens if I go to the dealership for some work and they see I have features I didn't pay for during the build process?

Ummm, my Defender has been doing this since delivery, no hidden features activation needed. Press and hold the button with the icon for the rear cargo door until the door unlatches. Simple.

What year and model? My rear door button doesn’t do anything, either with a quick push or a push-and-hold for 10+ seconds. Maybe that’s a feature only X or HSE or something gets? Mine is a 22 X-Dynamic SE P400, so fairly high up the food chain at the time I got it; I think only X-Dynamic HSE and X were higher until Carpathian came out and then V8.

NoGaBiker: I have your exact vehicle, 2022 X-Dynamic SE. However, my mistake. I believe I confused the operation of the remote fob for my Boxster, with the Defender, in my head. After dodging it for two years, just tested positive for Covid two days ago, and although mild effects, it has me a little foggy and tired. Got off the couch, went to the garage out of curiosity and realized my error. My apologies.

Just checked mine too. No dice. Not really bothered but surprised and puzzled why this feature (outlined as being there in the iGuide like global close), is inactive for NA models.

The keyfob does work to control the rear tailgate height. A useful feature when hooking up to a trailer that impedes access to the buttons.

Odd how this more complex feature is there but the simple opening button is not.

I wonder why it's not on NA Defenders. I can see how Global close deletion could be construed as an anti-finger-amputation safety issue but this opening feature, no idea.

I dont think there is a high risk of voiding your warranty unless you shout to your service advisor and tech hey I made modifications to my vehicle! As with anything there is some risk, and I doubt the dealership would notice these changes since they are subtle. (Of course people on these forums will try to get Land Rover's employees attention with my post, lol.)
