I got about 20-30 good trails in last year here in Colorado, but often just driving back from a ski day can become an off road adventure up Vail pass. I look forward to doing a lot more with a new 110 this year and although it is rare for me to even see another Defender on the trails it will great to get anyone else out there they really are great vehicles and has been well beyond my expectations

4 or 5 times per week. In all weather conditions. Often within 50 feet of a paved road. Towing up to 7500 lbs and with a full cabin. Because of the need to tow, I cannot lift the vehicle dramatically, so when recreating off-road (which is not often) I use 1.5 inch rods.

I bought my Defender for ONE reason ONLY --- a thing which a person cannot see, but is felt and determines the success of every trip. Namely, the effective use of the traction between each wheel and the ground which the vehicle enables.

As long as JLR maintains the performace lead in off-road traction use, I will drive their vehicles. I need to be able to make forward momentum in order to execute the work projects I have underway efficiently; don't have time to dig out.

Also, I am NOT a fan of pick-up trucks -- inconvenient - except for pure hauling; too big and unparkable in standard parking spaces. And featuring unbearable understeer when empty -- very unpleasant !!

Enjoy!

P.S. The Defender has out-classed my LR4s in this one point of intense care -- as I expected it would. Because of this, I have found myself departing from my plan to hold aloof the Defender and continue to wear down the LR4s. Gotta put the best player on the field !!
