I spent more than that regearing and locking the front and rear differentials, upgrading the front axle to a Dana 40, and replacing the 2.72 transfer case with a 4.0 in my $24,485 2014 Wrangler ****** Edition. Of course, a base Rubicon would have cost $5000 more to start with and would have still needed regeared for larger tires, but would have enjoyed resale commensurate with the extra cost, which my extremely capable ****** didn’t.
My point is, if this could be done locally (preferably by a garage that has already done one) I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a non-locked L663 that was available now and have this done for 5-7k, rather than order one and wait half-a-year.
