Issues with EZ Pass! (Electronic Actuating Cards)
Hey, I’ve had extremely inconsistent performance with my EZ Pass since getting the Defender. I’ve checked the manual, and on p 108 it indicates positions on the windshield to put them, however it’s still misreading over 50% of the time.
I even ordered a new transponder, and its not any better.
My D5 had areas on the windshield that looked different in that region, but there’s nothing different looking in that area on Defender.
Anyone else having this issue?

My glass clearly looks different in the two areas designated in the manual -- like there's a cutout in the UV filtering material. I put my transponder on the driver's side, and have no issues. You need a newer, slim transponder vs. the older ones that were more square to fit in this space. I had issues in another LR vehicle, and it was all about placement.

I too have not had any problems. But to be honest, in my last car (bmw x5) I never mounted it and forgot to pull it out half of the time. They’d just match my license plate to my ez pass account and take the payment out of my account. Are you getting bills in the mail or are they still taking care of it via the camera? It seems to me that if you have an account then you’re covered either way. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Jeez, that almost looks like a factory issue where the laminated layer wasn't trimmed or installed properly....I can very clearly the the thin wires running butt up against that center console, and that doesn't match mine, anyone else's I've seen, or the manual. If you have a chance, stop by your dealer and look at any other Defender there, you'll see that the laminate stops well short of that center console and provides an opening on each side that a transponder can pass through.

BTW, I took a closer look at mine and realized that the thin heating wires do actually cover the entire windscreen. But the tinted laminate does not....it's thick and has a very noticeable edge, so you can't miss it. I believe it's the laminate and not the heating wires that block the signal, and for whatever reason your laminate looks like it's run entirely across the top of your windshield.
