Default It's more expensive to order the Urban Pack than each accessory

Urban pack - $1,600

Scuff Plate - $357
Bright Pedals - $173
Front Undershield - $817
Total - $1,347

I thought at least the pack would have been pre-installed at the factory but my dealer says this is installed by them, so better off piecing it out than getting the pack. This is either pretty grimey or an incompetent oversight on JLRs part.

That was my experience too with my 2021. I only wanted the skid plate and had no interest in the other options so just bought that.

All of my options that I ordered with my vehicle such as the roof rack, skid plate and winch were all installed by the dealership and not included in the original build.

you have to factor in install charges if you don’t buy the pack

it would cost well over 300 bucks to install of these even not at a dealer

the installation cost is irrelevant as the $1,600 price on JLR website does not include the installation labor costs.

the JLR website states under the “urban pack”, “explorer pack” and “adventure pack”:

Accessories are equipment installed by the dealer; the rates do not include the cost of labor.”

Therefore, OP’s assertion is correct. Ala carte price of the items included in the pack all added together is lower than the price of the pack itself.

Quick question about these accessories. I plan on ordering a p400 which I thought comes with a front skid plate and also I like the bright pedals. Are the front undershield or scuff plate really worth it or only for hard-core off-roaders?

Depends on the trim of P400, most of them don't have the aluminum front skid plate as standard. The X did (back in 2020), not sure about other models currently. Are you going to do any hard-core off-roading? If not, perhaps you don't need it. It's definitely extra insurance on our local rocky desert terrains, you don't have to be a hard-core off-roader to misjudge the girth of a fast approaching rock sitting in the middle of a trail as you try straddling it. If you are going for form over function though, there are cheaper, bolt-on alternatives on eBay. As far as the bright pedals, save your money and get the replicas from PowerfulUK, they cost 75% less than the genuine article and from the driver's seat they look exactly the same. Plus, you get to keep the original pedals as a backup.

Why does the Urban Pack contain the front undershield?

ln the U.K. accessories fitted after purchase have to be declared to your insurance company, and can increase the premium. For instance my insurance wanted an extra U.K.£56 if l fitted the roof spoiler.

However factory fitted accessories don't have to be declared to the insurance.

l don't know if this is the same in the USA but it might be worth checking.
