Default Larger display option on MY22

Will the new, larger display be available to add to a 20 or 21 model through the aftermarket? Or would it be a big undertaking and expensive upgrade?

I can almost guarantee that you will get no cooperation, answers or even vague hints from Land Rover. They don't want you to buy their bigger display for your car, they want you to buy their new car with the bigger display. And besides the mechanical issues (from the workshop manual, it is relatively easy to remove and unplug the current touchscreen display, not so easy to remove and replace its mount), the aspect ratio of the larger display is also different, so it's not like buying a bigger TV. Software and layout for the larger screen are probably going to be different. We will have to wait and see, and I bet PowerfulUK gives it a shot as soon as that larger display part # becomes available from Land Rover. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I would agree. If you want to get the new larger screen, it would be best to just trade in your defender on a new one.

Does the larger screen offer more info or just make the available information bigger? Coming from a Tesla Model 3 with a massive screen compared to the Defender, I have to say, I don’t miss it. The pictures of the larger Defender screen look odd to me, like it wasn’t really designed for that cockpit. Just my humble opinion. The smaller screen just looks more aesthetically pleasing to me. More minimalist to match the utilitarian interior design. Again, just my humble opinion. Good luck in your search!

You may be right about the aesthetics, but that screen seems a bit small when youre bouncing down a trail or going through sub menu after sub menu.
The bigger screen may be easier to use.
I only test drove one so what do I know anyway?

Agree on both points. The cabin design looks cleaner and more deliberate with the original screen. The larger screen will help with usability. The current setup isn’t exactly in the driver’s view like some more upright and angled setups, and I have thought that a larger display would be helpful at times when moving. No brainer to configure for ‘22 given how cheap it is but also no reason to trade in a brand new one! Now, If they fork the versions and limit features to the new one.... that’d **** me off. No indication they’re doing that.

Ok, this is wierd - my saved MY23 90 builds (P400) are now showing the display in the summary.

I'm talking about the Interactive display in place of the analog gauges.

Looks like all S models and higher trim, whether it's the 90 or 110, will have the interactive driver display. ***2023 model year.
