Location of V8 Badge - Some Help Please - Calling V8 Owners!
So my V8 Defender 90 was one of the few that left the factory without the V8 badges (among a few other things as well….no 11.4” screen either!).
My dealer was able to source the V8 badges for me and I am about to install them. Was wondering if one of you with a V8 110 or 90 could help me locate the proper position of the badges by providing me with measurements of how far from the top or bottom of the rocker panel it should be, and how far from the edge of the door it should be?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated so I mount them correctly.
Ask and you shall receive. Though, I think it looks better without the badge. Let me know if you need anything else. In case you can’t read my handwriting, I’ve transcribed the details below.
Measurements taken on the passenger side door with the black lower trim work used as the reference line.
Emblem width: 3 9/16”
Distance from the “V” to the door jam: 4 7/16”
Distance below the reference line: 7/16”
@Barstoolman1127 has the best solution! However, if your Dealer is as customer oriented as mine, you may be better off just doing it yourself. If you are up to it, here's my 2 cents to make it easy (easier).
1. Wash your Defender. It looks sweet as the pics are, but if it's as under-loved as mine, wash it well.
2. Get a fine point whiteboard marker (NOT a sharpie) and a plastic ruler. Put a horizontal & vertical line at those excellent points that @Quick posted.
3. Dry run things. Use blue painters tape and place the "V8" badge where those marks are, step back and check it out. I'm sure it will look great.
4. Get a small straight piece of wood. Sorry, I have a LOT in my wood working shop and understand this may be tough. Ideally, go to Lowes and get a wooden paint stirrer. They're free but you have to road trip.
5. Using that painters tape that you also picked up at Lowe's, tape it right below where you have that sweet "V8" taped.
6. Now take off the "V8" decal. You should be able to lay it right on that paint stirrer and lean it up to the body and it should be perfectly horizontal & placed.
7. Show time! Take off the cover from the sticky side of the "V8" and slap it up there.
8. CAREFULLY remove the paint stirrer that's taped up there, wipe up (gently) the whiteboard marker marks. Wait a little while for the trim tape to "cure". I'd wait an hour. That reminds me don't do this unless the temp is >70 degrees or over 90.
Drive like a mad dog showing your badge. If you knew all this, apologies for stating the known.
@Quick You delivered and I received! Thank you so much!
My 90 is in getting some mods done but I'll have it back tomorrow and will get these badges on there using the measurements @Quick provided and using some of the techniques that @GrouseK9 provided.
Thanks guys! Will post pics when I'm done.
@GrouseK9 I heard the V8 badge adds 20hp. 2 badges, one per side, means an additional 40hp! Could be the cheapest mod out there!
