Default MHEV experience?

Can anyone provide feedback on the MHEV engines? Does it eliminate the start/stop lag?

I am specifically looking at the D300 MHEV, but I guess a similar experience would apply to both petrol and diesel engines on this issue.

LOL- no start/stop lag on my P400 petrol...the start/stop feature doesn't work at all and I hope it stays that way.

Same on my 21, hasn’t worked since day one and won’t be mentioning it anytime soon!

My understanding is that it does stop the lag. When I test drove the p400 I turned the option off. This was before I understood better how the system actually worked.

"mild-hybrid electric vehicle" is marketing speak for put a little bigger battery in so the car can start 100 times during a commute.

There is no "hybrid electric" motive force here. All movement is powered by gasoline. Just the engine shuts down whenever it can and there's a battery (surprise) that is charged by the engine (surprise again) that is used to start the gasoline engine (yet another unsurprising surprise) that allows the marketeers to put "EV" somewhere in the vehicle description...

MHEV system, separate from the normal vehicle battery, generates up to 140Nm of torque to help acceleration. When the driver accelerates, this stored energy is redeployed to assist the engine.

I didn't know that, the behavior is certainly gas motive only. When it was advertised as "MHEV" I figured that starts from "engine-off" conditions would be instantaneous. But they are not. The engine needs to be on to move.

I was under the impression this torque is generated via an electric super charger. The electrical system doesn't directly provide drive. That's how the P400e works.

This is what I understood as well,... and what made it theoretically attractive to me in the first place...
