Default Model 2024 Production and Delivery Dates

Hi all! Been lurking here for awhile and trying to soak up all the knowledge. Thanks.

We pulled the trigger on an order (JLR Flatirons (Colorado)), so far we are on the dealers spreadsheet to be submitted to JLR when slots become available to them. The dealer reckons it will be a 2024 MY by the time it gets added and gets through the system. Does anybody know the approximate dates when they switch model years?

I am a bit surprised I was told this as reading this forum it looks like the order, build, and delivery process has started to speed back up.

Yes, of course when it is finally built and delivered, I'll post photos!

I would think you’d take delivery around April/May, which might be like the first month of 2024s I guess? Seems early but possible

Order & delivery time will vary by dealer. The closest dealer to me said they are just putting orders in a folder until they are allocated production slots. Told me to expect delivery of a 2024 model in 9 to 12 months. Another dealer has an early 2023 production slot and I can modify the order with delivery in February. I grabbed that and look forward to getting another Defender. (My wife stole my Defender and I've been driving our X5)

Pandy shortages could change this answer, but most makers see the new years models produced in September for a rollout in October. However, it isn’t crazy to see that slide by 30-60 days. I have a 2023 now, so clearly they are building in July. I don’t see any real reason to assume before that, as any earlier would trip over the prior years model.

They can't legally produce a MY 2024 before Jan 1, 2023. There is no guarantee that is the plan either, they have the 2023 Trek and 75th Anniversary editions being built and who knows what else they may have. Plus, since the 2023 130 only started production on July 4th, that would only be 6 months before changing model years for that as well. They may push back production of 2024's until later in 2023 to get back in sync with reality - but who knows for sure...

Does anyone knows when the order bank opens for the 24 model? I’m trying to place an order now and it'll be a 23 model. If 24 model is available to order in one or two months I’ll probably wait for a bit.

Well 23.5MY Defenders just started production so. That’s what my order is.

I checked out the photos of 2024 MY, and I'm not really feeling the design. It kinda looks like a toy car to me, you know? But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?
