Default Navigation Volume Issue

We're facing an interesting issue with our 2023 Defender 130 and wondering if anyone else has experienced this behavior.

When using navigation apps (either Google Maps or Waze and on Android Auto or CarPlay, it doesn't matter), the navigation voice guidance (e.g. "in half a mile, turn left") are set to a static volume of 19 and adjustments with the volume **** do not persist for the next prompt. It's often disrupting to get navigation guidance at a higher volume than media, especially for sleeping children.

The owners manual states:

NAVIGATION SYSTEM VOLUME
To adjust the volume of the navigation voice guidance, rotate the media system's volume control while spoken guidance is given

While this works for a single voice guidance prompt, it does not persist to the next prompt. Has anyone experienced this before and found a way around this?

It will be trivial but have you tried to lower the volume from your smartphone?

Pretty sure iPhone disables on-phone volume control when on CarPlay.

What is happening when pivi navigation is active? Does your volume setting "stick" on the pivi turn by turn? (ie is it just a CarPlay issue?)

Tried that, but it doesn't have any effect.

I haven't tried pivi navigation yet, that's a great suggestion. I'll try that and report back.

Yep, I had the same issue.
The volume adjustment for apps run via CarPlay or Android Auto are separate from the PIVI apps volume adjustment.
To change the volume for phone apps, run the app, select the settings button (on the PIVI touchscreen, not on the phone), and look for guidance volume (or similar). Photos are Google Maps
Good luck!

NOTE: The steering wheel volume control should control google maps navigation volume when directions are being given. My '23 operates in this manner.

Yes, mine does that, same in wifes MBZ. Try adjusting the volume of the nav while she is talking. Next time the lady speaks it will be what you set it to
