NDM Snorkel

If you are in water deep enough for a snorkel... I would be worried about all the electronics in the floors of our defenders and the water that is bound to follow.. Electronics under the seat and under the rear floor. we already have forum topics related to rain water seeping in and collecting and messing with electrics. And the fact you need to cut a hole in your fender. Is the snorkel really for water? or just for looks.

I'm looking at getting one but they're never in stock on the website so I've not pulled the trigger.
Defender is sealed up tighter than a fish's rear end. Water ingress is not a worry, The weak link is the position of the air intake on the side. 900mm may seem plenty of room until is isn't. Pop into a hole or have an angled entrance and you can be north of the 900mm easy enough, albeit briefly and unintended. A snorkel is definitely not for looks. An absolute essential bit of kit if deep crossings are anticipated.

Someone with a snorkel needs to make a video. 1 Defender a snorkel and boat ramp. I would like to see just how fish butt tight at various snorkel depths our defenders really are. Any snorkel fans ready for the challenge? and what happens when you go past the defenders wade sensors do bells and whistles go off?

“Although this snorkel may appear to increase your wading depth in deep water it does not - its purpose is to suck cleaner dust free air into the engine so is actually better suited to dry and dusty environments”

so not quite sure on the quote that it is essential for deep water crossings. But give it a try and report back your personal findings. Anyone actually use the snorkel past wade sensors? What happens?
GavinC I do appreciate your continued support and development of knowledge within this forum for sure. Im just feeling a little frisky today.
