I never considered a Landrover till a couple of weeks ago. I found out the P400 engine has a towing capacity close to my F150. I stopped by my local land rover dealer to look a new one over although I was looking for a used one. Pretty much sold without driving it found a used 2020 First Edition in KC. It had a little over 42k miles in great condition. Decided to make the 500 mile trip from Louisville and traded my beloved 2018 F150 Platinum in. It was a tough decision, but I wanted something a bit smaller and comfortable.

A few issues I've had is setting up a profile. I was able to switch ownership and get the incontrol app on my phone working, but when I try to set up a profile in the truck it states I don't have a network connection. I have full remote access with my app, I have linked my phone as an access point, and I see in connectivity TMobil is connected. Anyone experience this? I did not realize the truck did not come with adaptive cruise so I'm looking into what it would take to activate. I have been also concerned about security. I read Landrover has been updating the security systems since 2018 so should I have much to worry about? I'm taking the car into the dealer to get them to look it over next week, but I thought I'd introduce my self and say hello.

Personally, I didn’t setup any of the app/profiles/connected services. I only interested in driving the machine. The connected wizardry doesn’t interest me.

Excellent! We just bought our 130 SE for the very same reason. Our wakeboard boat with trailer and fuel is around 7,000lbs. Outside the capacity rating of our Lincoln Aviator (which they continue to downgrade the capacity with those). We were looking at slightly used Expeditions, and I discovered the Defender is rated at 8,201 lbs. We don’t tow long distance so the Defender should be great (and I know the wakeboard guys love their big trucks). The YouTube video of the guy out west towing a vehicle on a trailer @7,200 lbs and the guy was more than pleased was helpful. I miss my Jaguar XF Supercharged terribly, so I am happy to be back in the JLR family. Love the way it drives! (The Meridian Surround…not so much!&#128514. Enjoy!

 

Congrats! I thought first edition trim was fairly well-equipped though, are you sure it doesn't have adaptive? Kind of surprising if it doesn't but that's one of the things with spec'ing out Defenders or really any JLR vehicle in the configurator, people can almost accidentally leave off options that one would think are a no-brainer to be included at the price points.

 

Many congrats, I just picked up my (new to me) 2020 this week, as well. Assuming it's still under warranty, and even if it's not, call LRNA Customer Service and register it under your name to ensure you get any recall notices etc. When I called, they notified me that my car was due for two software updates at the dealer. By doing that, the dealer gave it the usual 30 point inspection etc.

It's a great ride, I picked mine up in Illinois and drove it back to DC, ~750 miles/11 hours, and had a blast.

 

I thought the first edition had most of the options as well. I guess the best way to be sure it has ACC is the double arrows on the steering wheel to the right. I'm going to try and get a print out when I go to the dealer.

 

I doubt I'll do that again. My wife was out of town and I wanted to get back quickly. I made the 1K mile round trip by only stopping a couple of times at some rest areas. I was pretty spent afterwards.

 

I hear you — I flew out and drove back, a week later I’m still feeling it. But raves for the ride, and the ACC was fantastic to use.

 

As for the profile I think you have o set it an account with JLR first. Go give that a try and then give them a call if needed. Congrats on the nice ride! You will enjoy it.
