Opinions on the ClearSight Mirror
#12
I think it is a really great feature. It takes a day or 2 to get used to it, but after that it was no turning back for me. The center headrest (in the 2nd row) and the spare tire do obstruct your view with the traditional mirror but not with the clearsight feature. I would say that I find it not as effective at night and will occasionally flip on the traditional mirror during night driving. But I really like the clearsight mirror overall. I have it on 95% of the time.

I’m amazed anyone would choose look at headrests, a spare tire, and a soda straw view of the road through the regular mirror when you can see a clear view of everything regardless of how much stuff you have packed in back. If ever there was a vehicle where a clear sight feature should be a mandatory safety feature, this is it. The regular mirror hardly lets you see anything, and barring the odd direct sunlight situation, where you’d be blinded by a regular mirror anyway, it works perfectly—as in amazingly effective and flawless. It is one of a few things in the Defender that just continues to blow me away every day I use it. I think anyone who orders a Defender without it is making a big mistake.

I love it and believe it’s a much better view behind the truck. My wife does not like it. This allows the mirror to always be adjusted for my wife, and when I’m driving I use the clear sight.
you should drive with it both ways so you can learn the difference for yourself and decide if it’s worth it to you

I have it and it has not been jittery. I only use it as needed when other sight lines are blocked and am very grateful for it at that point. So in summary for me it is useful as I tend to haul a lot of stuff in the back. When not hauling I tend to leave it off. It is a good tool but like others on car I only use it in certain situations.

Coming from an LR4 with a bigger cargo area, it's a great feature for me. Our family overpacks when traveling and the we just had the cargo area packed to the headliner with gear and luggage. Great to be able to still see what's behind me without relying on just the side rearview mirrors.

Same for my wife and I. She doesn’t like it, so we leave the mirror set in her position and then I have the camera view on so angle doesn’t matter.
