Hi! I'm new here. Nice to meet you all.

I'm thinking of ordering a Defender (90 or 110 still debating...) later this week. I was wondering how long it'll take for it to be delivered if I were to place an order one now. Has microchip shortage been affecting significantly for the Defender production?

Thanks!

Just two more weeks.

Hi guys... Im curious as to what types of deals people are getting for factory orders? Is paying MSRP expected at this time or people are paying invoice? I usually order all my cars from factory / custom and never had to pay MSRP (usually just a little over dealer invoice.) My local LR dealer is saying they wont go below MSRP.

@friskyamg - MSRP and then Service Department labor rates to add on anything that the manufacturer didn't. However, you need to realize that this isn't limited to JLR right now. I have friends who have ordered a Mach-E, Bronco and Toyo going thru the same thing. Almost all the dealers are VERY short on supply and if you aren't willing to go MSRP, they'll find plenty of others in queue.

Did I hear something about inflation....(Sadly, this is another data point in my book).

True, but it is a fabulous time to sell/trade if you have one.
I have a 2107 Ram 2500 diesel with 42,000 miles that I bought for $60k in 2017. Was given $54,200 on trade and when you add the sales tax savings, it was over $58k so basically only a $2k depreciation over the 4yrs.

True that, @MrBreeze ! Bought a Chevy High Country 2500 in 2016 and just sold it for $2k less than I bought it!!

Good for you/us! Of course trucks do hold there value than most classes of vehicles, but to see the value increase over the past year....crazy times we live in!

I got a great deal: the dealer “allowed” me to order one at MSRP.

Mind sharing which dealer allowed you to get one at MSRP? Any chance that's an LR dealer in SoCal? Trying to build a 110 but one dealer is asking $15k over MSRP...

I'd recommend getting friendly with a salesman at a dealership to put you on his "call list" for when unclaimed units arrive at the dealership. I was able to get one by contacting three different dealers in my area. They would contact me when they found out they were expecting a car and they would let me review the build sheet. I turned down several but after about 2 months one showed up that met my "must have" needs.. Of course if you want a precise configuration, then ordering is the only way to go. For me, I was somewhat flexible on color and had just a few "must haves".
BTW, I also found out that nationwide shopping doesn't work. It seems LR dealers are restricted to their local area (within reason).
Also, I was lucky that dealers in my area are selling at MSRP. I paid just a small junk add-on (under $1K).
