Default P300 Cooling Fan

Anyone else with a P300 experience the cooling fan run at full speed after shutting the car off? MY22 P300 will ramp the cooling fan up to max power any time you park and let it idle for more than maybe 10 seconds. This happens any time its over maybe 65 degrees ambient, which is most of the time in Phoenix. Slightly irritating, and people occasionally ask if I've left the car running accidentally. This will be the car's first summer, and I can only imagine how long it'll be roaring away in the parking lot.

my p300 does this 20% of the time after I shut it off, reminds me of my crapped-out hot hatches back in the day with turbo timers. i think it's normal.

Mine is the same as gb junkie. I am not in a hot region of the country. Still, it has happened more as Winter has departed.

I have a 2022 P300 and also live in Phoenix - I notice the fan running after turn-off about 20% of the time. I picked my Defender up back in Sept 2021 and we had some pretty hot days - no real issue with the fan. If yours does seem to run a lot, I would have the dealer take a look at it.

Mine does it in Florida. Just doing its job, heat kills engine components.

All of my turbo Volvos ('09-'15) would do it, but only if I ran them real hard before shutdown.

Good to hear feedback from someone else in AZ. Ours is basically guaranteed to do it if you don't park and shut it off instantly. I'm not so worried about the behavior of the fan - I'd expect it to run if things were real hot. I'm just wondering if a sensor is inaccurately reporting. Though I suspect that's something the dealer will never bother with diagnosing.

Related to a degree - my Audi RS6 (V8 twin turbo) will run the fans (actually its running the cooling system) every time I turn it off. No matter the weather etc. This is done to keep the coolant running through the turbos to manage heat... wonder if it might be similar for the Defender.

The thought occurred to me, especially with how much power these 4-cyls put out these days. I don't doubt the turbos put off massive amounts of heat. Do we know if the Defender turbo is water cooled? I haven't bothered to investigate under the hood much - too many other project cars for me to bother with it. I'm sure the water pump is electric, so it could definitely be circulating coolant after shutdown.

When you say irritating, you mean you are bothered by the fact that the fans are doing what they’re intended to do? SMH!

P300 Turbo is water - cooled and the oil needs cooling, also.

And it seems to somehow be able to independently spin as it cools, or so it sounds to me when it is hot and the engine is off. I recall there appears to exist a small pressure tank which bleeds to turn the impeller.
