Default Rear Storage - What the heck are these for??

Recently got our 2024 110 Defender. Working on kitting it out for summer camping and an upcoming road trip and it got me thinking..... what the heck are these intended for?

We have the 2 row version so excuse my ignorance if these play some more significant part in the 3 row configuration but it seems like JLR spent some time designing these and the elastic band that goes in them. Please enlighten me on how they are intended or how you are using them, pic if you got em!

Cheers!

They’re there for whatever your needs are. Just an extra touch to hold something you don’t want rolling or bouncing around. I use mine to hold a fire extinguisher. Could come in handy some day when you least expect it.

Yeah I have a flashlight in one and I had a small med kit in the other but it was big enough I felt like it was stretching out the elastic too much so I moved it.

They make more sense if the optional third row seats below the cargo area are popped up in the 110. I have a vague recollection during sales discussions those were water bottle holders for that third row. I do NOT have the third row seats in my 110. Like others here I use the space for holding odds and sods in the cargo area when needed but that’s a rarity.

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Doesn’t take up any space, or compromise anything else. Easier to just forget about it if it doesn’t suit your needs, since most owners aren’t even aware of it’s existence in the first place.

A bottle of glass cleaner and a small roll of paper towels to wipe off the spring bug guts on longer trips

I have a medical kit connected to that strap on one side, and put a fire extinguisher on the other side. On the fire extinguished side I have a couple spots to hang VHF marine radios so I can plug them in and recharge them between uses.

Happen to have a picture of the radio side?
