Can you even imagine the $ amount of vehicles that is lost on that ship, especially with Porsches? Mind boggling.

 

It is nothing, a rounding error, compared to the costs associated with losing the ship and remediating the environmental damage if that thing turns over.

We've lived with the Golden Ray lying on its side in St. Simons Sound for two years, since Sept. 2019. 4500 SUVs jumbled up in the hold. They finally cut up the last piece and loaded it on a barge and removed it in December. They just got the last of the big floating pieces of equipment gone last week. Best I can tell they are still working on some of the containment netting that was installed around the perimeter of the site. The nearly-800-foot ship was cut into chunks like a sub-sandwich and sold for scrap to a shipyard in Louisiana.





For scale. It towers over 4-story condos, though it's a half-mile farther away.
