Just get cross bars then. Lot less money, hassle, and noise. Most people don’t really need a full roof rack.

Although I must say, if you’re going to get a rack, that really looks like a proper Defender rack, and I love that it’s so low to the roof. Really nice look.

I wanted to go with a more traditional set up too for skiing and family trips but was frustrated bc I didn’t find any new Defender options on the Yakima or Thule websites. After reading the article below online, I reached out Thule South Africa about how to configure an after market roof rack since Thule has not released any compatible roof racks in the US for the new Defender. They couldn't have been more helpful and educated me that previously released Thule fit kits are being used for the new Defender in both Europe and South Africa. Below is what you need which I was able to find at online stores or on Ebay. I did mine in all black to match the roof (see pic) and it looks much better (and lower profile) than the OEM dealer option. As important, I am experiencing almost no wind noise. Hope this helps everyone.

Thule 3040 Fit Kit
Thule 753 Rapid System Foot Pack
Thule Wingbar Evo 127 (50 in)

Looks great, but aways remember (low overhead clearance)!!! That is if you don't want to replace your garage door,

a friend bought the X and his garage overhead was low so not knowing he ripped of shark antenna and caused significant (aluminum) roof damage, Ugggghhhh.

The height of this beast is definitely an issue. The oem expedition rack end frontrunner both sit several inches above the shark fin as do the cross bars. Only thing lower I’ve found is the voyager steel rack which sits almost even with the top of the shark fin, several inches lower than the other racks. Might get one of those if someone else doesn’t come out with something just as low. I really dislike how high the expedition rack sits.

How did you run the wires for the lights? I need to run wires for a solar panel and haven't started pulling trim yet. I saw that someone went up the a-pillar, but they just ran it on to of the roof from there.
