Shortages force JLR to halt production in Nitra
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/s...tion-s708ktkfh
"Chip shortages are forcing Jaguar Land Rover to slam on the brakes at its Slovakian factory — home of its best-selling Defender. The Midlands car giant is understood to be pausing production this week at Nitra, where it is capable of building 150,000 of the off-roaders a year. It is the latest stoppage to hit the car-maker, with shortages also affecting its Halewood factory on Merseyside in recent weeks."

General management issues much ...?
This is a major supply chain management screwup ... and in all honesty, not only for JLR. Relying on one major supplier in Taiwan, for chips, and another one for cast aluminum / iron parts, is a short sighted approach to say the least - but hey... it was cheap. We'll see now how they handle it.
If anything, this pandemic should be a wake up call for most of the corporations - however, I doubt it that having the same management will change anything.

"Like other automotive manufacturers, we're currently experiencing some Covid-19 supply chain disruption, including the global availability of semiconductors, which is having an impact on our production schedules. As a result, we are adjusting production schedules in some of our plants to reflect this.
"We continue to see strong customer demand for our range of vehicles. We're working closely with affected suppliers to resolve the issues and minimise the impact on customer orders wherever possible."
