Silicon Silver vs. Carpathian Grey thoughts/opinions/photos?
On the waitlist for a 110 X and preparing to give them my order if my number comes up (LOL).
On the configurator it seems to me that the colors that provide contrast with the black roof look really great.
I'm especially drawn to the Silicon Silver vs. the Carpathian Grey.
I've been told the Carpathian is beautiful in person, that it's like a very dark charcoal color, and maybe doesn't show as much contrast to black. I've also been told it may show dirt/dust more than a lighter color.
I've been told the Silicon Silver is kind of a "champagne" silver, and can change in the sunlight, and that it's "amazing."
I've been told I wouldn't go wrong with either color.
Thinking of the Windsor tan leather seats for either color, if that helps.
Would love to hear feedback from those who have the colors, any photos very welcome, especially if anyone happens to have a photo of the two colors side by side.
Thanks for sending; it's a great looking Rover! It's interesting, when I see it near those garage doors you can see where the champagne description comes in, and then in different light it does seem to change and look more silver.
I endlessly looked at Silicon Silver, Eiger Grey and Carpathian Grey. For me, Carpathian was too dark... and silicon silver is amazing but I chose Eiger as I think it's very very very snappy with the black hood on the X!
In fact in certain lights it's very easy to get Eiger and Silicon confused btw.
I have a Carpathian Grey X and when its clean its amazing. I get compliments on it all the time and it looks sharp.
The problem is I live in the country and it almost always has a layer of dirt and mud on it. I wash it weekly and for a day or two I wouldnt trade it for any other color. The other 5 days of the week I wish I had gotten a lighter color.
Depending on where you live and how clean youre going to keep it I would consider Carpathian Grey. If youre going to have a hard time keeping it clean go with the Silver
Thanks, I will take a close look at the Eiger Grey, I agree it's a beautiful color, and it does save about $1000 (post-tax) dollars! Any photos would be welcome, and I'd love to know what you chose for your interior colors, and see some pictures with the Eiger if possible.
Also: did you opt for the "Satin Protective Film" for $4900? And do you know why they offer this on some colors but not on the "Premium" or "Metallic" colors? I've seen a lot of discussion about people having a protective wrap done on many of the colors after-market. Not sure why LR wouldn't offer it on all colors; it has to be a money-maker for them.
Sure, here is a huge Eiger Grey photo dump showing different light, dirty, clean, dogs, etc from a few weeks ago up in cabin / WA state. BTW -- No satin film for me.
I truly think Eiger is the best of the 3 grey/silver shades. Note: I did not get the "black pack" as I like the square on the window, but I did then change the front A-pillar to all black (was a couple hundred bucks pre painted from JLR), which I think is a perfect look.
