Default Which size and engine did you buy?

Just want to see what’s the mix of size and engine being bought?

please use the poll above so that everyone can easily see the results.

ps: I looked at LR defender inventory in the US as a proxy for what people are ordering

1. 90 is about 15% of the sales
2. 4 cylinder is about 40% of the sales - I was expecting it to be even smaller

While the 110 - 6 would have been nice, I am beyond thrilled with how much power the 4 cylinder motor has. It's more than adequate for daily driving and we are averaging around 20mpg in city driving to boot!

110/6 gets me interstate mileage in the 22-23 range if I'm going 65; as soon as I push it up to 75 it drops to 18-19.

But I didn't buy it to save gas.

Very happy with the engine, just wish 18s had been an option, as has been mentioned a time or two on here.

Given that I had factory 18s on my 2002 911 Turbo S I believe it's possible.

Since Force is propotional to the square of velocity and only directly proportional to mass, I suspect that a 195mph stop for a 3400 pound car is harder on brakes than a 130mph stop for a 6000# Defender, but I'll leave the math to seasoned professionals. But it does tend to work that way in ballistics (much more energy in a 3400 fps 55 grain .223 round than a 1200 fps 160 grain .45. 1200 lb-ft vs. about 450 lb-ft. Note that the mass of one is about 3 times that of the other with it's speed being about 1/3 as much)

We have a 110 6 cylinder but ours is diesel powered, we are averaging 35 miles per imperial gallon with it

Fully agree. The P300 has plenty of pep when you put you foot in it, a lot more than the normally aspirated V-6s found on other makes.. I did not see any reason to lay out more money on the hybrid technology. Plus, when I ordered it, only the P300s were being allocated.

38 replies so far. Interestingly the results are close

1. 15% of those who voted bought 90 and 85% bought 110

2. 32% bought 4 cylinders and 66% bought 6 cylinders

I will update it once more votes come in.

Interesting to me that 2x the number of 90 buyers went with the 4 vs the 6. I struggled with the decision but in the end didn't think that the 6 was worth the 10-12K more that the vehicle would have cost. I don't tow and when I tested the 4 vs the 6 back to back, I didn't feel like I was giving anything up getting the 4. I look at it as 'this is my truck' when I want more 'spirited' driving, I drive my other car. Yes, I know, first world problem!
