Size up or down for winter tires??

Great info. GTS944 the distinction between the strengths of a narrow winter tire vs a wider one makes a lot of sense. It makes it clear that I want the 275 width. I'm leaning towards the Nokians but a close second are the Michelin X-Ice and maybe the Blizzak.
