Default TDI Tune V8

Been Running a TDI tune on my V8 for 2 months now. there is a separate thread but it p400 specific.

5 min install and very noticeable power increase in the middle setting.

although the V8 is a much more powerful engine compared to the p400. I was a little underwhelmed with the power. Definitely an upgrade from the p400. the Tune has really transformed the car.

the tune is a piggy back style tuning module that just increase boost pressure by tricking the ecu. it’s unlike a full ecu tune that adjust many other parameters

install took 5 mins. the module can be remotely controlled by a mobile app. adjust power levels and even shut it off

just to clear this up, any mod to your Defender can void your warranty.

if you are looking for some more power for a relatively cheap price tag it’s a great optio

Hi, Ehloo

What has changed dramatically after installing this chip? I always have enough stock V8, I can't imagine a situation where additional power is needed for L663 chassis

Just ordered one from TDI and looking forward to trying it out. The V8 is definitely not lacking power, but it will be even more of a beast with a few extra horses under the hood! Relatively inexpensive and easy performance mod…why not!

I will keep the settings fairly modest, as I don’t want to risk “frying” anything that the warranty won’t cover.

there is never enough for me. if you are content with the current power then the tune probably is not for you.

imagine good being better. throttle response, additional HP and torque. i can always have more of.

the Defender is a heavy beast. coming from a p400 i enjoyed the difference in power but the p400 had close enough torque numbers to the V8. so it didn’t feel remarkably more powerful. only at higher speeds as the p400 engine died off the v8 keep building power. but by that point your going pretty fast and i’m not trying to hit autobahn speeds. i much rather have more torque

in conjunction with the milltek free flowing exhaust the car has really transformed

not sure if others feel it but the oem exhaust is really restrictive and i felt the engine almost choking and struggling.

forced induction vehicles love flow in and out. the better you can make the flow the more power and torque you will gain.

it was like a 400 modification. compared to my costly mistake of painted and ppf oem wide flares, that cost way more than i was expecting and regret doing it

Having both the P400 and the V8, do you feel like the TDI chipped P400 was as good as the V8?

the tune never made it on my p400 before i traded the car in. TDI won’t ship to California or any state with strict emissions.

i had mine shipped to AZ and it sat there for awhile till i could pick it up. TDI ended up reprogramming it for me for my v8.

i would imagine from my experience of tuning turbo engines that the results would be pretty significant and prob close output to the v8. prob actually feel faster with the upfront torque

for 400 bucks it’s a no brainer

I wonder what the difference would be between this TDI tune and having the “Dynamic Mode” added to my P400…

any thoughts?

Has anyone else done any modding for power/performance of the P400? I have read people talk about Manhart Tuning, TDI, and RaceChip.

Anyone here have any of these options they can weigh in on?
