Turbo coolant leak
I noticed a small/tiny coolant puddle under the car a while ago and narrowed it down to the turbo coolant inlet line. It was not hard to get to and fairly easy to replace. It's held in with one 10mm bolt and the hose clamp to the line. The part is LR183050, which appears to have replaced the original part - LR121417. What appears to have happened is the o-ring has flattened and hardened over time. The car has 69k mile on it. It has probably been leaking for about 7000 mile (it wasn't a bad leak and I was lazy in finding the part number to do the job). See picture below yellow is original o-ring, next to the new part. Next time I will just buy an o-ring, but I didn't know that was the issue.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

Did you need to clamp the coolant line and block the hole to stop coolant loss while it was taken apart? Taking notes for when mine starts leaking.

That said, this was apparently one of 2 leaks I have in the same location. I need to confirm where the other leak is coming from. I was under the impression the one hose was an oil drain, but I need to double check at this point as it looks like it's coming direct from the top. EDIT - I will replace the o ring for the upper coolant hose. That has to be the other source, but it's hidden by the lower hose. They share a bolt to hold them in place. |
Update. After replacing the lower hose part that had a new o-ring on it, it didn't stop all leaks. So this morning I replaced the o-ring for the upper hose and that seems to have fixed it. I see no more signs of leaks. That o-ring also fell apart when removed and tore with minimal stretching.
The o-rings are 10mm ID - 15mm OD |
I have this issue. Thanks OP for sharing info.
I found my leak with ease. A quick reach around the turbo. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...366ab8ec0.jpeg |
