OEM design for the winch is hamstrung by the UK crash regulations I guess.

Having a hulking pillowy plastic guard on the front means errant city-bound pedestrians simply bounce off, before straightening their bowler, picking up their brolly, wishing you well and resuming their day.

I hear yeah, I have read through the instructions multiple times and have been on the fence as to whether to tackle it myself or not. That said, I think my pride will win in the end and I will bite the bullet and attempt the install myself. Currently, waiting for Lucky8 to finalize the production of the specialty bracket I spoke of, have been in contact with them over the last few months and it seems as if they are just about done working with the fabricators to release the part as an add-on to the kit.

Kinda off topic, but I adore the OEM bullbar. However, by the time you pay to ship/import and install one it’s something like 6x the cost (and 10+x the weight) of the L8 winch tray so I don’t think I can justify it.

I’ve never used it to pull my Defender yet, but I used a 10S on the front of my Wrangler plenty. And I’ve pulled logs out of the way with the 12S on the front of the Defender.

At any rate, it looks the business!

do you think the grill that is hiding the top of the winch sturdy enough to fasten a front license plate holder to?

If you're asking about the black plastic waffle part, yep... here's what I did (no winch though yet...)

Yep! I have the sly bracket now but it looks like the L8 winch insturctions have you cutting out the waffle grill, and the 'stealth' winch tray replaces that part with a removable substitute. So I'm wondering how sturdy that subsitution actually is and if it could handle a sly bracket.

Just got back from a road trip to Lucky8 for my winch install. I purchased there winch stealth package with the Warn 10s Zeon platinum.

I dropped it off on Friday and they had it ready the following Friday. Justin the owner is only able to work in the evenings on there builds. They sent pictures as it progressed and I have to say it went without any snags. Yes they had to have the special bracket and they sent it out to be powder coated.

This is much more heavy duty than I anticipated but Sean said he could not imagine a failiar in a recovery situation. These guys have a passion for what they do.

Just got my 110X and I am very excited to take it on a trip.

I am curious about the front under shield plate that comes with the 110X. (See below). It is a nice part and seems a shame to take it off. It seems like a lot of these kits would require getting rid of it, Is that correct? I like the sport winch bar they are selling at New Defender mods, but this also looks clean. Since I don’t plan on hitting Kangaroos I might skip a brush bar but I do want a winch.

Still trying to figure out what winch setup is the best.

No - both of the vehicles pictured with winches retain the underbody shield
