Default Windshields are back ordered...

I've gone through multiple windshields now. Insurance/Geico covers unlimited here in Florida luckily.

But just checked in with dealer as it's been 2 weeks since shop ordered it and they are showing the status as 'backordered' with no ETA given for them.

Just a heads up for anyone else that might soon deal with this.

I've driven half a million miles in Florida and never had a windshield problem except one that got shot but that doesn't count.

Are you just really unlucky because I never thought it was common here?

These windshields are insanely weak.

I drive alot across the country though, I've driven almost 40k miles just this year going back and forth from Florida to California and back. But, all it takes is a small object hitting these windshields and they split halfway across the entire thing. I've basically replaced a windshield every month.

Well hell.....no wonder they are on back order, you took them all 😂😂 I'm just teasing you brother. Yes they are very prone to cracking although mine hasn't...yet 🙏

It’s always been my understanding that a small object hitting a windshield can often result in it breaking. That’s science and physics. I don’t believe one windshield is made weaker than others. Perhaps because our Defenders are boxy, upright vehicles they are more prone to windshield damage. But I don’t know if that qualifies them as being insanely weak.

I went through 3 windshields on my old 2007 Toyota FJ cruiser. It is similar to our defenders with how vertical the windshields are. Form over function I guess.

I"ll second @GCSchmidt on FJ windshields!
Went through a lot from c.2006 and until selling our 2014 TTUE a few months ago
Thank goodness for unlimited glass coverage is all I can say

Now - I need to get the LR110 windshield done (actually should have a few months back) due to a full height crack and a stone shot driver side dead center. In fact was off to deal w/that very issue today

Windshields - meh - a fact of life I guess, particularly here in CO and on these style vehicles in general. All I know is our $33/yr for unlimited glass coverage has been worth the $'s for a very long time.

I am also a member of the cracked windshield club.

I second the second. The Hummer H2 windshield is near vertical. Bought new in 2007, I’ve lost track of the number we’ve had replaced. In fact, it needs one now…..

Not really weak, just insanely vertical providing less room to flow over the windshield vs striking it.

Seems to be an issues with windshields on small volume cars, our PoleStar 2 had to wait from September to May to get one. Stupid dump truck dumped a large volume of dirt onto the highway and a car next to me hit it and poof big cloud of shrapnel.

Of course dump truck has big sign 'not responsible for windshields' I mean I'm ok with some random rock but this was about a couple wheelbarrow fulls, but nope, I pay my deductible and wait six months.
