Build #1and Build #2 in the background.😁 Some of the first of many photos coming 😁 Clean baby! New Kenda 33\" skins and 3-in lift is next 😉 I even had to paint the muffler 😉 Like new! Brake time... Cleaned up the rotors and brakes. Added 30 mm spacers. Man...I do need a Quick Jack though. PITA to lift on jack stands. Just love the spare wheels on the backs of these rigs.
Yeah, you must have found that down south somewhere...or it's been locked away in storage. A guy at work bought a 12 year old jeep from Texas, looked brand new underneath. Couldn't imagine turning wrenches on a rust free vehicle.
Anyhow, looks great and that gray is one of my favorite colors on a Dll.
Wow, how did you get the underside so clean before you painted it?
Yeah...A lot of hours of wire brushing and wire wheeling just a little bit of chipping. But I had a head start that it was a Texas car originally, which then landed in Florida and I picked it up from a guy in Rhode Island last year so it was not a lot of rust at all.
So my wife askes me, why I'm doing this? I told her this truck deserves to be preserved and restored. I just love Land Rovers and hope to someday buy a Defender maybe from my friend Paul Potratz at Helderberg Defenders... But I can only dream for now and take my D2 wheeling at Rovers in the Woods on the Helderberg farm. We had a great time there this year can't wait for the next event.
Anyway sorry for the long post but I hope to keep adding to this thread with everything I do to the D2 😉

My gray build...
I see you have two of them also... Nice!
Yeah so as I explained in the previous reply that this is a Texas car that went to Florida eventually found its way up into the Northeast and I was lucky enough to pick it up before old man winter got its teeth in it.
Funny because I also have a jeep wrangler 2002 but I got from my uncle in Florida and did the same thing to it. Not a bit of rust under it. I hate to sell it but I want to fix my 2 D2s here
Yeah It's taking quite a bit of work to get it nice and clean underneath. I have some leaks to fix and it'll be a project for sure, with another one backed up right behind it 😉
Bring a Trailer, it's an auction site that is very selective about what vehicles they allow to be sold on their site. Some of the highest prices for D2s have been from their site.
Old gray ended up being a waste of time, knew frame was rusted and planned on doing a rear quarter frame replacement...but frame ended up cracking just in front and behind rear radius arm mount...so...after building it that far...pulled the plug.
Replaced it with old blue (aka Victoria).
The two Dll's belong to my wife. I'm allowed to drive them...but not build one...lol.

There's always a boundary when it comes to your wife's car. You are allowed to drive them but you can't modify it.
