Temp fix :dunno:

I do like the shorter tail pipe, it looks different. I really need to just move the OEM exhaust hanger more forward, and probably shorten it since the original hanger was around 8" in length, plus the rubber hanger. Just welded straight to the frame for now. The amount of rust that shook out with the use of the sawzall was ridiculous.

Aren't you worried about exhaust fumes?

Saturnine 08-13-2021 05:58 PM

For sure that is a concern, haven’t smelled any fumes yet.

A lot of rust came out of the muffler when cutting the end bit off, so new muffler is coming. Probably going to do a SS setup:dunno:

one of mine had the resonator removed and I knocked the tip that was on there off right at the last hanger location which is back a little bit and I've ran that for a few years now and no issues. Well have issues when it's time to get it emissions tested as there's not enough room for them to clamp the sniffer bc of the hanger...

Ooof.. almost about to hit 190k. Just replaced the alternator. I'm in that mode / space of should i sell now or dump money in and keep Magpie forever.

WHAT TO DO

:dunno:

Oh, replaced springs with OME med duty springs - the ride is so much better. The PO had put some kind of D1 HD springs in there, the ride was always on the rough side but tolerable. I can drink my coffee in the AM without spilling it everywhere :disco:

PS, p01174 code is really really annoying. Can't seem to get rid or it. Ugh

Wow. Just read this saga from start to finish. May have been a bourbon or two involved. You have persevered beyond what's expected. I think you should keep Magpie. As long as it's not your daily driver you're good to go. This thread makes me happy I bought mine from someone who left it completely stock. Not that I won't have issues....

Rolled over 200K this week.

Thinking about buying a donor D2 to keep Magpie alive and going :dunno:
