Overland Trailer rebuild?

Maybe a refresh or restore? Who knows. It's a 1967 Stevens MFG M416 ex-Army trailer. It was done up some years back and it's time for a few refreshes and maybe a couple of improvements along the way.

Still has a data plate on it probably a re-pop but cool none the less.

Tonight I got the inside cleaned out so I could see what I was up against in the wild world of corrosion. Overall I was pretty happy.

Something about pressure washing is so satisfying...

From there I set the Roof Top Tent in place and peeled the old decals off.

Then I battled with a fury getting the latches on the tailgate un-seized. Lots of penetrating oil, and grease pumped through the zerks. Than I added a ratchet strap and a dead blow hammer finally finished the battle.

Pretty cool feature that will come in handy getting stuff out when the tent is set up. Need to come up with a plan on how to mount the awning next.

with the bed having dried out, I surveyed what was hiding in there.

So I hit it with some Rustoleum Rust Reformer

Waited a bit then did a second coat. Then it was time for the Herculiner. A couple of coats later with a bit of dry time in between we finished up here for the day.

Today I was doing a lot of fiddly jobs on "Strange Rover" so I didn't get much accomplished on the trailer.

Took the old tongue box off it was looking pretty sorry for itself.

Gave it a good clean some prep and hit it with the old stand by Rustoleum gloss black. Holds up surprisingly well, and super easy to color match if you scratch it up.

I'm happy with the progress so far but I really need to dig into the awning mount.

I took a few minutes and changed out all the faded reflectors on the trailer. I also discovered that I misplaced all the bolt mounts for the RTT. So I either need to order new ones or make my own. Probably just end up knocking some out in shop just annoying as I know I put them somewhere so I wouldn't loose them and I have apparently out smarted myself as I have zero idea where that was.

Been getting a few things done here and there. The tent parts kit arrived from 23Zero and it was shockingly good. I'll post a few pics of that tomorrow. So with the needed bits in hand we got the tent tossed on top and bolted down.
