Default Import to US

OK there must be a way to do this......

It appears that others have had trouble but I am wondering if the truck is sent disassembled with the driveline being shipped seperate from the chasis/body if it's possible to rebuild it here and get around the issue? Can these be assembled and registered as a kit car?

I know that Noble from the UK (www.noblecars.com)ships complete chasis, interior, suspensionto the US minus driveline which is added here in the states seperately and these cars can be registeredas kit carsand driven. The cars do not have airbags and I am sure they were not subject to crash testing. Are they able to do this as a result of using a different manufactures engine?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Just go find a 25 year old model and have it shipped in.
Some people have imported ne models in thru Canada and have been able to get them registered, not sure how though.
Shipping the vehicle in by parts still won't help you get it licensed.

HI GUYS TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION YES YOU CAN TAKE THE TRANNYS AND MOTORS OUT AND IMPORT THEM INTO THE US AS A KIT CAR BUT FROM WHAT I FOUND IS "AND TELL ME IF IM WRONG." IS THAT THEY STILL HAVE TO MEET DOT AND EPA SPECS WHICH MEANS LEGALLY IF THERE NOT A NAS MODEL THEY HAVE TO BE MADE COMPLIENT. WHICH ALONE IS WELL OVER 10,000 DOLLARS AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A RI AND OR ICI LIC. TO DO THAT. UNLESS THERE ATLEAST 25 YEARS OLD.
THIS IS A INTERESTING SUBJECT CAUSE FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND PONDERING GETTING ABOUT INTO THE IMPORT BUSINESS LANDROVER UNIMOGS MAYBE MINI'S
AND AFTER ALOT OF RESEARCH IVE FOUND OUT A FEW THINGS
ITS EXPENSIVE...LOL
I HAVE FIGURED OUT ALL THE HOOPS YOU HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH TO IMPORT THESE VEHICLES.
AND I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT TO THE POINT WHERE IM LOOKING AT WHAT KIND OF MARKET THERE IS AND THE PROFIT INVOLVED
IM GOING TO START IMPORTING A FEW SERIES 2@3 INTO THE US TO SEE WHERE THE MARKET IS
AND IF ITS A SUCCESS IM GOING TO GET MY ICI@IR LIC SO I CAN IMPORT DEFENDER 90S AND 110S
SO GUYS HELP ME OUT ALITTLE.. WHATS THE MARKET LIKE? ANY COMMENTS OR ADVICE WOULD LIKE.

So, if you have a Land Rover 110 that is 25 years or older it is relatively easy to import to the states? What are the hoops you have to jump through to import? What kind of costs are we talking about? I am in Albania and will be here atleast another 5 years or longer. I would really enjoy being able to bring my 110 back to the states. Thanks for any info you may have.

yes basically what it comes down it is this
any vehicle that is not NAS that is 25 years or older can be brought in @ reg in the US .
WHY ? after 25 years the vehicle is excluded from any DOT laws@regulations AND after 21years with EPA laws@regulations
exsample next year will be the first year you can import a defender into the US, its the 25 years mark for the 83 model year
so at this point you will need at contact a customs broker and he can help you with the rest..

The other important thing to know is that the feds will only allow you to bring in one vehicle, over 25 years old, in your life time. The grey market as we knew from years ago just isn't there any more when it comes to bringing in more then one vehicle.
