Exclamation 1995 starting / running problem

Hello about a month ago I bought a 1995 LR dico and it ran and started great up until a few days ago. I went to the gas station to about halfway there I noticed it was running a little rough. After I filled up it had trouble starting and would run poorly in lower rpms. I got it home and suspected a vacuum leek, with the truck running. Spent an hour searching the hoses for a crack or hole but couldn't find anything.

The next day I went back and tried to start it up and try again, it won't start. Cranks strong but wont fire, not even a little. I had someone turn the key and pulled a plug wire and wasn't getting a spark. Thinking/hoping it's the coil (due to cost) plan on ordering the part soon. I am wondering if anyone has some input or experience with a similar issue? I don't drive it every day, so it had been sitting for maybe 3 days tops and the only other issue was a cracked radiator hose. So I'm thinking maybe that steam released could have corroded something.

Any help/comments are much appreciated, Thanks.

Sounds like a coil. A friends 1972 Rangie did the same thing, and it was the coil.

Start with the coil, then look into the ignition control module.

Well I ordered the coil today hopefully i will be in sometime soon. It does appear that the ignition module was relocated. I assume that's it to the left of the coil behind that radiator mount (sorry for the photo angle).

Well I finally had some time to put the coil in and no luck. Getting plenty of spark and from what I can tell the fuel relay and pump are operating (I can hear the relay click and the pump turn on when I attempt to start). Pulled out all the plugs today and regapped them, they seem old so I will order a new set soon. Wondering what the symptoms of failing plug wires would be and I have this wire (see picture below) just hanging in the engine compartment not sure where it is supposed to go but it originates from behind the washer tank by the fire wall. Thanks in advance for any help. Name: IMG00101-20100731-1310.jpg

Failing plug wires/plugs will cause mis fires.

I do not know where that plug goes.

Check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail, just because you hear the pump kicking in does not mean it is putting out enough fuel pressure.

Thanks for the reply, I will try and and check on the preasure as soon as I can. I know there is some preasure cuz fuel will
squirt out that little valve on the rail. I was releived not to see any build up on the plugs themselves. But only two were
actually wet with fuel the rest were dry.

On your place I would take out some plugs, one or two , squirt some gas directly in the cylinders , put back plugs and wires and try to start. If it starts to cough it means fuel delivery system is at fault. If it doesn't could be ignition problem. And for that plug , see if your window washer pump works.

Thanks I'll try that tomorrow. I did have some time last week and pulled out and painted my headliner
So having a grounded rover hasn't been a total loss.
