Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these themselves and knows a really good walk through?

SS- have you read through the RAVE about rebuilding it? There are a lot of parts in a manual gearbox that need inspected be someone with a lot of experience, else you are liable to put it back together only to find that it still isn't correct.

not yet brother but it grinds. it might just be a small problem with the linkages or something small (hopeful) but idk.

There is a fork in the clutch that goes bad and needs to be replaced when you do the clutch.
It could be a bad syncro.
Start looking for Land Rover World and Land Rover Enthusiasts magazines, they always have tech sections in them, I get mine at Barnes & Noble and Schulers Books, one carries one mag the other carries the other.
You can also look at back issues online, last year they had a tech section on replacing the clutch in a DI.

Grinding could be from the baulk (syncro) rings being worn, clutch wear or air in the hydraulics.
I'm actually in the process of rebuilding one of mine that has worn baulk rings. I bought the kit from Ashcroft.

Do you know how to double clutch? Drive it and double clutch all your shifts and see if it still grinds. If that fixed the problem then your syncro is going bad.
