Default 545$ for a D1 windshield?!

I have safelite auto glass quoting me 545.90 to replace my windshield!? wtf? I'm pretty sure I've seen them for MUCH cheaper. The price includes the molding which they will NOT replace the windshield w/out replacing the molding they said. hmmmm. I was hoping it would be simple

I was quoted about the same last year, in theory the mouldings are a one use item....they get too damaged by removing them to re use them

Shop around, I have a friend who is saying the stock wholessale on a non-heated glass is $97. Now you won't get that but you should be able to find a $200 plus parts if necessary.

I put my rover on comprehensive with a $50 deductable through Geico. Waited 30 days (not necessary but did not want to file a claim any earlier) and filed a claim.. this only upped my policy $20 per month. I figure in the long run it will take alot of payments to get to $500 for the windshield.
Left the coverage on there just in case.

Default Wind Screen

Had a snow plough throw a stone into mine, cost me $560.00 from Safelite (and I shopped around) but check your moulding....they didn't seal mine completely and the next day I had three leaks and then it was a pain getting them back because you fall second to new business in their eyes. This one doesn't leak, but it whistles and I will live with it instead of dealing with them to fix the whistling.

Cheers

Full glass coverage on my auto policy is $24 per year for 2 cars with zero deductible.
My windshield was over $700 with the molding, they also replaced my headliner because the glass shop knocked it down, that was $1400.
Total cost to me was 2 days without my truck.
Full glass coverage is the only way to go.

my insurance paid for mine, and safelite did it. they first used the 500 one, and it never sat properly, sides were too high, looked like *** from inside. they ended up having to get a windshield from the dealership and it went in like it should and looked like new. best bet is gonna be have your insurance cover it and pay the deductible, and have em put in the dealer's glass.

safelite also did mine for about 500$. Sucks, but it's just one of those things. Mine was a small chip i could have had fixed under my insurance for free but instead i waited and one day in the winter when i turned my defroster on....BOOM, spider webbed up the windshield like 9 inches. Stupid
