97 disco no start fuel pump
sorry just an update it is a fuse that keeps blowing a 10 amp fuse in satelite 1 fuse 3 and it says it is part of the engine management I have rewired the pump and put in a new sender what could be causing the short ,thanks anywhere to look would be helpful
just an update today i went out and replaced every single relay on the passengers side kick panel ,put the fuse in number 3 and turned the key and it still blew ,unpluged the main fuel pump relay on the fender wall passenger side ,still blew a fuse then I unplugged the inertia switch and still the fuse blows. pulled out the fuse panel and there is only one wire on that fuse it is white with a green strip any ideas where to go from here other than a direct wire to the fuel pump would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Splice S145 could be the issue but the physical location isn't shown in the Rave ETM. White with Green Stripe goes to the ECM and the Fuel Pump Relay (MFRU) off of Sat 1, Fuse 3. On the ECM connector white w/green stripe is #8. On the Fuel Pump Relay it is at #2 on the connector.
I hate to say it but off the white with a green stripe you have two more splices, S149 your front 02's, S151 are rear 02 sensors and your ignition coils. Fun, fun, fun.

OK so are you saying that I simply check the the splices which means that the little white with green wire gets spliced at least 4 times and they go to each of the parts you have mentioned .I am not much of a wire person everything else but I have not done a lot of electrical stuff any suggestion where I should start first, also now that I think of it in the last week before this mishap the check engine light has come on ,I appreciate your help and guidence sp.
I would start at the ECM (#8 W/G) and follow the white/green wire back to the fuse because the splice is somewhere along there. No meter needed, just eyes to find the splice. Your blowing a fuse so somewhere along that wire or the splice you should see a fairly obvious discoloration of the wire or a separation of the splice. The splices are fairly easy to spot since they bulge the wire bundles. Try that and see how it goes.
I am guessing the ecm is on the passengers kick panel with the large connector on it (black) can I follow the wire back without removing the dash or what thanks .on the plus side it is 5 c today and my other disco started so at least until it freezes up I can drive it and not suffer from withdrawal .
ECM is on passenger side, inner fender support in the engine bay. Right next to the windshield washer bottle under a black plastic cover. I would think you'll have to remove some covers under the dash to look for it but I don't remember what needs removing because every cover under my dash is long, long gone. I'm sure the splice is either near the fuse or near the ECM, probably within half a meter......lol. Sorry.....
We're in for a few days of harsh cold so I'm just loading up on carbs today so when I shiver uncontrollably I won't go hungry. 5c would seem like a heat wave....I'd probably pass out. -7c here and going lower all day long. We've put all our vehicles under cover and plugged them in to stay warm. I use a Hot Scott electric heater under my oil pan to make early morn starts easy. We've all had a tough winter so far, wonder how long it's going to stick around. Yesterday we had 0c but with winds around 48kph it kept the temp around -17c. Great.
