Default Adaptive values

1997 LR D1 297k MAF sensor failed code p1179 installing another MAF but need to reset adaptive values! Read a thread by LR Techniker that connecting the +/- battery cables together overnight does the trick! Can some one verify this as correct? Read another thread that said just the negative for 10 minutes? I know that rover dealer can doit with text book! But looking to fix this myself without needing a special tool. Any help appreciated! Assuming that you're in North America and have GEMS engine management, no, the adaptive values are stored on non-volatile memory on the GEMS computer. Disconnecting the battery or hooking the cables together will not reset them.
