Adaptive Values Reset (in NC)
Hello D1 Friends,
Anyone know where I can go to get the adaptive values reset on my 98 D1? I recently replaced the TPS and IACV and desperately need a reset. Any members have the tool? Anyone know of any shops in the Charlotte, NC area? I tried the GEMS ECU utility app but can't get it to stay connected and not crash as soon as it starts "reading" the ECU. Surely someone has a 'testbook" or Nanocom or Autologic tool or something. Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks outono. I'll give it another go. There are so many variables that I was messing with. Which devices did you use? I have an android tablet and a google pixel phone, and I have the OBDLink LX (hard wire cable) and the OBDLink MX+ bluetooth. I was able to get both of them to "connect", but as soon as it said "Reading ECU" it crashed. I have a cheap burner phone arriving this weekend (I only have an iPhone) and was going to install the app and give it a go on that. So, I wasn't sure if the android tablet or Google pixel phones software wasn't compatible or something else. What hardware combinations did you use and what have others had success with?
I have a Samsung tablet that's garbage but does the job. I also have the
, which is what is recommended by the app developer. I feel like I read somewhere the the SX (hardwire) won't work. Never tried the MX.
I think it took me maybe 20 times in a row to get it to go. Multiple times it would connect, I would navigate to reset, and then CRASH. GAHHH!!! Just keep on it and usually it'll go through.
Regarding crashing, im almost positive its an Android version issue. The GEMS app looks like it hasnt been updated since 2019 / 2020 so maybe find an Android version from around then?

thanks JohnZo!!!
do you recall if you put the car key in the 1st or 2nd position (but not started). I tried both but never could get it to stay connected

Have you read this thread yet? You could also try OBDWiz but your results may vary

I kept a Galaxy S6 with the GEMS app loaded along with an
in the console. Always worked. Never got my S8 to work right with it. Used to do it with a OBD wiz, laptop, and dongle but was pita to lug that around.
