Going to do my transmission filter this weekend and was wondering what everyone is using for fluid. I know I need dex 3 but any suggestions as far as brands? Any good or bad experiences with any brands.

Thanks for the info.

Changed the trans filter today and it shifts so much better. It wasn't bad by any means before but now you can't even feel it shift, even at full throttle. I used advance autos generic dex 3 and a bottle of lucas transmission fix.

The filter change went easier than expected, the hardest part was the y-pipe. Was expecting to break some bolts but didn't break anything. Getting it back in by my self was challenging but wasn't too bad.

I didn't remove the crossmember completely which made the whole job a-lot easier. After removing the transmission dipstick I used a mallet to push the crossmember back enough to drop the pan, then just hit it back into place after I had the pan installed agin.

If you haven't serviced your transmission I highly recommend it. I was experiencing some temp increases while going up long hills in the mountains and I am hoping that the old burnt fluid was the cause of the problem. I'll test it out next weekend.

I like that the D1 has the crossmember, harder to change the filter but protects the transmission sump a little bit from rocks.
