Battery maintainer

I came across a photo that shows a D1 with a battery maintainer/charger mounted under the hood. I own the same charger for the winter time. Since i dont drive mine often, i have to charge the battery. I took a screen grab and the question i have is, has anyone mounted one of these? It would be convenient to have one mounted and all you have to do is plug it in. Is there any reason why this would be a bad idea? Any reason why you couldnt mount one, keep the clamps connected to the +/- term on the battery and run the plug forward through the grill or headlight housing and plug in when needed?
thanks

I added a 120v plug to my bumper and then just plug my charger that is mounted in the engine bay right in to that. I did change out the clamps to ring terminals. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...ddb84ef726.jpg

That has a nice look to it, very clean. So, the 120v plug is powered by your battery?

No, that is for charging the battery's. It is connected to the battery maintainer.

Duh, got it! You have a 120v plug mounted on the brush guard, that is connected to your maintainer, which is connected to your battery. So all you do is plug an extension cord into the 120v plug. I have a factory bumper and would likely mount the plug under it somewhere. What brand maintainer are you using if you dont mind?

I have the NOCO Genius G3500.

Last question, does your NOKO have the 2-prong plug like below that plugs into the backside of your 120v plug you have mounted to the bumper? Trying to get an idea of how it’s all wired in. I have swaped out the clamps also with the ring connectors.

Yes, it is a 2 prong plug. Just like yours

I use a CTEK Comfort Indicator Panel that is connected directly to the battery and mounted in the grill for quick access. The LEDs alert you on the battery level.

Nice having the charge indicator. Does it stay illuminated all the time? I guess if you have the +/- ends attached to the battery and the panel end coming out of your bumper it would be illuminated all the time?
