Default bfg at's

so i realized that bfg at ko, or whatever the long list of letters is after at, are only 1 dollar more than the general grabber at2s in the lt235/85/16e. It kinda suprised me. Is there any reason to not get the bfgs over the dura tracs, or over the 245/75/16. I am a little concerned with size of the 235/85/16 due to the strength of the diffs. and I know the bfgs are pretty much the standard in ATs but are there better ones out there? What kind of mileage can I expect from bfgs? I know there are guys out there that have been running these for years so a little insite would be appreciated.

First of all.. The mud terrain km2s are a couple dollars more and what I would consider. I dont think you would regret it. As for differential and tire size.. I wouldn't worry about it. As for finding the cheapest prices. Check out discount tire direct. Free shipping.

146.00 A TIRE for the AT/KO

A 183.00 for KM2 in 235/85/16

175.00 for the 245/75 in KO. Which I dont reccomend..

They dont make a mud tire in this size.. I dont think

I know your probably not considering Mud Tires. But do, the difference between street tire and all terrain tire offroad is MEH... The difference between Mud Tire and A/T is :O

As far as how long they last. BFG are some of the HARDEST tires out there I have heard 50k from MANY MANY MANY people on the KOs and have SEEN 75,000miles on some.

Just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents.
First, having run BGD MT's for over 8 years, they are great and if they were still made I would buy and sipe another set, they ar e not and their replacement is not nearly the equal to the MT. As for the BFG AT's, they are really bad in water, mud, snow and ice is something you can't even describe.
My suggestion is the Dura Trac, go read up on it, they are to die for, especially in the winter, yet last well on all surfaces.

I have defiantly been doing the research, duratracs have defiantly been at the top of my list, they look like a good compromise between a my and at, I have also considered the hankook atm rb10, they look good for the money. I wish the duratracs have been out longer to see what kind of actual mileage people get. And I'm inclined to stick with load range e , this is my dd so no mud tires and I don't see snow very often in eastern nc.

Default Opinions are like....

FWIW - I've been running Gen. Grabber AT2 245/75's since my disco became my DD and only have about 5k miles on them. So far I like them in the rain (we get a bit of that down here) and they are fairly quiet on road. virtually no wear on them yet. Brand new they have 13mm tread depth... now i have 11.75 mm.

As for Off, they are pretty good all around (sand, rocks, ruts, roots...) except very thick and deep mud... then again not many tires will be except MT's.

I'm running the atm rf10 and they are great. Havent had any problems with traction in rain or snow and they aren't showing wear after 5000 miles so far. I'm running 255/70 and they were very reasonable.

Here is my $.02-1/2...the BFG A/T's SUCK THE DIRT KNUCKLE!!!!
I have ran them on my old work van, a E-250. I spent more time being stuck on ice and snow then anything else.
A 2% grade and I would just spin, spin them up to ~35mph on the ice to melt it and reach dry ground and they start to smoke.
Granted I go through 2 complete sets of tires a year so I cant give you a tread life comparison on them.
Now the Cooper Discoverer S/T on that same van and I was virtually unstoppable.
Spin those up to 35 and hold and they heat up nice, melt through and dig in and grab and you start moving, and they dont smoke either.
I also have the S/T's on my Rover, I swear by them.
BFG uses a softer rubber, softer rubber wears out quicker and heats up sooner.
This year I am running a Goodyear tire on my work van, it is this...http://www.goodyear.com/cfmx/web/tru...rodline=160105
So far so good, they are on my Sprinter and if I turn the traction control off I can walk away from anything on ice and climb almost any ice covered hill, still waiting for deep snow to try them in.
Stay away from the BFG A/T, all you are doing is paying for the advertising and the name.
They suck.

stock I don't think so but I will get a lift at the same time I do tires. I really hadn't even considered the bfgs til I saw the price was only a buck more than the grabbers, I figured it was just one of those things where everybody just was buying the name. What load range do you guys recommend, I assume that a passenger rated tire is too weak considering everybody says to run 40PSI and p tires are only rated for 35. the duratrac 235/85/16E is cheaper than the 245/75/16C so I would probably go E if I did those, the hankooks come in E in the 245 and 235, and also in a p245/75/16 109T
