Default Britishstarters.com Design Flaw?

Well I love my britishstarters.com starter except for a possible design flaw. I'm still trying to figure out what's at fault here, but it seems the front U-joint has been chewing away at the bottom of it. The starter is loose now too, which makes sense if it's been getting pounded on. Not from the two big round bolts, but from that thick plate and the starter. Really not looking forward to removing the starter... I locktited those bolts. My bump stops and suspension are stock so I wouldn't think they have anything to do with it. Anyone else see this before? Does it sit too low?

Eric,
The only thing I can envision is that somehow the drive shaft is shifting sideways to contact the starter?

I would look for freeplay somewhere. How far away is it from the starter sitting in your driveway?
Can you move it with force applied?

AntiChrist is pretty well informed on these starters I think.

Dude how is that even possible? I mean my truck has a bit of lift but there's like a foot and a half or more between the diff and starter. that started must be massive

I've never had such a problem with mine. I do have a bit of a suspension lift, but not much of one. It really sounds like something else is going on. Any chance of a photo?

Yea I'd like to see more picture angles to see how close it is at ride height. This is why I hesitate to put anything bigger than stock on my truck except lift and tires :-)

It looks like you have it on upside down. The solenoid goes on top.

The photo was taken laying on my back looking up past the front U-joint to the starter. The solenoid is partially visible above that. I believe there's only one way to orient the starter.

Yeah, you're right. I downloaded the photo and flipped it.
I don't know what the problem is. I assume your engine mounts are ok.
