Where is a good place to mount a wench btw, the brush guard does not seem sturdy enough to pull 2.5 tons out of the mud even if it was brand new.

No the OEM brush guard is not strong enough for a winch.
You need a winch mount, these guys have them.

now is there any trick to taking it off. i see the four bolts that its mounted too but they also look to be the same four bolts holding the whole bumper on.

No trick to taking it off, just the 4 bolts, yes they also hold the bumper on.
Undo the bolts, take off the brush guard, the bumper will stay in place.
