Default Can The Seat Belt Buckle Shell Be Disassembled

Anyone know if the Seat Belt Buckle shell can be successfully split apart and reassembled? My wife slammed the read seats down on a buckle and broke it. I have another assembly, but it is for the wrong side, and would like to snap apart the shell from the donor and replace the broken one.

yeah.....they come apart , but.......dont go back together very well, a couple of mine are now held together with electrical tape, I have a couple of used spares hanging in the garage....maybe I should experiment with them someday........

Yeah, the housing will crack, but you can glue it together....I've done it.

I can break stuff as well as the next guy, but I was trying to avoid that.

The seat belt is inoperable without the buckle shell. Left rear passenger has to go commando or not at all.

Found what I needed used from the classifieds pretty cheap. Based on responses, that seemed the way for me to go.

Mine came apart all by themselves, it is the going back together that is a challenge. Definitely grab a spare from any donor or dismantler.
