Changing O2 sensors - reset computer? And replacing Y pipe.
As part of replacing my Y pipe due to a rattly catalytic converter, I bought new O2 sensors. Figured at 124K not knowing when or if they had ever been replaced, it couldn't hurt. Is there any sort of computer reset necessary on an '95 Disco? Disconnecting the battery enough? RAVE is silent on doing any more than unscrew the old and screw in the new.
In hindsight, I probably should not have bothered - this truck lived in So. California its whole life until a few months ago, and all the nuts and bolts underneath came off like the day they were put on. The old O2 sensors will probably come right out too. I loosened the Y-pipe to mid-pipe joint and was able to unscrew the nuts by hand! Amazing! You get so used to fighting with these things here in New England. It was more work to unplug the O2 sensor cables than to take the exhaust apart. There's one manifold to Y-pipe nut on the passenger side that looks to be no fun at all to get back on. Any tips appreciated!
Finally, I bought the "olive" that is supposed to go between the Y-pipe and the mid-pipe from Atlantic British. It is very obviously too big. The current system, which looks to be original, doesn't have one. Early vs. late Disco I thing? Should I use some exhaust sealant there?
TIA,
-Kevin

my 95 wouldnt fit with the olive in there either when I replaced the exhaust....I just used a little red hi-heat RTV .
get some long extensions and you can get at the manifold nuts from underneath.....and be careful.....use new nuts (locking or not ....wont matter) and chase the threads on the studs first.....they like to snap off at the last instant
