Update of my daily driver 96 D1 with 260k on the clock. Just installed restored and painted brush guard, roof rack and ladder. Yes I’ve spent a lot money to upkeep and maintain the truck. Yes, I’m crazy in love.
Gorgeous, especially with the mileage! If you don't mind me asking, what did you do to restore the brushguard? Mine's sitting on the side of the house with rust through on the top bar. Half the time I see it I want to wing it over the fence into my neighbor's yard and the other half of the time I want to find a welding rig on craigslist and learn a new trade....

Sheer madness, a well kept brush guard and an affinity for originality. Against all good advice by other members, I decided to keep the OEM brush guard as mine had minimal rust due to being stored for nearly 20 years. I removed all surface rust and had it painted with a mat “plastic” paint. Hopefully one of these days someone is going to make an in-kind after market brush guard that’s more durable and practical.

These trucks deserve to be kept alive if the body and frame are in good shape. Realistically, you could keep them running forever as long as the engine is running and the transmission is good. I really want the safari rack on mine but can't justify the price tag on a new one and can't find a used one in good shape to save the whales.

That rack is hands down one of the coolest features of the truck. I got a fairly good deal on it years back. It’s a must have and it will certainly pay for itself as D1 keeps gaining in value. D1 is bound to become a classic.
