D1 Fourby-clock: 2 probes question !
Hello,
The original clock in my Disco 300Tdi doesn’t after several tryings to repair his function : the digital read-out works but is now half backlighted until you manually pres the protecting glas again the housing for making contact everywhere. And the illumination with the headlights switches on doesn’t still work anymore.
So I decided to buy the Dourby clock for Discovery 300TDi. Great stuff !
This clock include also 2 probes for the temperature (with readout on the clock screen). But I don’t find anywhere a good explanation where hou can place both probes. Normally one for the temperature in the cockpit, the other for the temperature outside the Disco.
‘Has someone already installed this clock and the 2 probes ? Any advises ?
Thanks !
Much greetings from Belgium,
PierroDisco

I don't have an answer for you, but thanks for posting this since my clock starting experiencing the same issue as yours around a year ago.
I think I'll order one for old Indy. For U.S. buyers it's around $85 USD after the exchange rate including shipping.

How/where leading probe to engine compartment ?
Hello,
Thanks for the input.
Just one question : which way have you led the probe for the coolant from the fascia to the engine compartiment ?
In other words : which grommet between cockpit and engine compartment have you used to lead the probe through ?
Have you a kind of picture of it ?
Anyway I do hope I don’t have to remove -and replace after all- the whole fascia or dashboard, just for leading one probe through.
A lot of work for just one small probe ?
Thanks for showing me the light (in the dark dashboard).
Greetings,

No need to uninstall the dashboard. You can simply run the probe wire from behind the clock down to the footwell and then out one of the grommets there. Mine is left hand drive and I have passed it through the same grommet as a number of other wires in the firewall above the clutch pedal. From there it is just routed to the upper radiator hose.
Something to remember is that the upper radiator hose measures temperature of the radiator water and not direct engine temperature. So if the thermostat hasn't yet opened or is stuck then you won't be reading engine temp accurately.
See a few photos of the wire path.

Hello Disco1
Thanks for the pictures and the explanation !
Indeed, working on thevDusco is sometimes not so difficult.
As soon as the weather becomes more sunnyhand dry I ‘ll begin this job (my Disco has roofrails ; so I cannot stall him -or her ?- in the garage).
Much greetings from rainy Belgium,

Installing Fourby-clock ? Great (and good) choice !

As already mentioned by jvanardoe (and myself of course), installing is not difficult and you will not regret this “uprating” for old Indy !
