Default Defender running gear in a DI

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the defender running gear the same as a Disco, but with a lower ratio? If that's the case, it should bolt right in, right? I was having my key fob reprogramed the other day, and asked the tech, he said it was, but it wasn't. I was thinking when I went to Canada at the end of the month, I might try to find the running gear & ship it back, but if it wont fit/work, I'd just be adding to my stack of parts...

What parts are you referring to exactly?
If you mean the axles, they are the same ratio as D1 and DII.
The rest being the same depends on if the D90 has ABS or not.
D90 front calipers are larger and take thicker rotors

D90 has a better transfer case ratio..something like 1:4 vs 1:6

I was thinking taking the axles for the larger brakes, and the transfer case for the lower ratio & mounting it to my Disco transmission if it would all work together.

It's all interchangeable, yes. But, why not just buy D90 brake components from PT or Will Tillery and throw them on your Disco as is? The axles and axle housings are exactly the same. The D90s have larger diameter discs, larger calipers, and better pads. The only "modification" necessary is bending one of your brake lines a little bit.

What Alex said. Why lug back an entire axle when all you need is the two calipers??
Why do you want a lower TC? What size tires are you running?

Just put the 2" lift on & have the 245/75/16 tires in the garage. Think the lower geared tc would compensate for the bigger tires and give me a bit more power at the same time.

Keep in mind the low range ratio will still be the same.

Really?? Then there's really no benefit in doing this then... Go with the bigger brakes & let it alone I guess.

Rears are the same and in the front I don't think that 0.5mm is going to make any difference.
