Default Diff Troubles

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 1998 Discovery 1 td5 automatic.

Occasionally as I slow down, the diff selector will slip into neutral, meaning I have to stop, put trans into neutral and go back to high range.

It has done this a few times in the last two months. I also cannot select high range, neutral and low range on the diff selector by moving the diff selector forward and backwards. I have to move it to the left first.

Am I up for a new transfer case or is there something else I can do?

Thanks.

There is a spring inside the t-case that holds the gear selector in place, sounds like yours is bad or maybe broken some how.
Drain it, remove the inspection cover and have a look see.
