Default Driver Side Tie Rod Ends

I have a 99 discovery 1. My question is why does the drivers side only have one tie rod end? There is no where to install the one on the front side of the wheel. It appears at one time there was another ear on the steering knuckle. Is this normal ? Is it safe?

Huh? Drag link has one TRE on the drop arm, one on the passnger side knuckle. Track rod sits behind the axle and has one TRE behind each knuckle. This is a NAS truck, right?

You are correct, one on each side of the track rod. One on the drop arm and passenger side knuckle.

North America Spec. You only have 4 TREs, not 5.

Okay, It seems that one TRE on the drivers side is unsafe, if the TRE fails it's lights out.

If any TRE fails completely it is not going to be a good situation. I don't understand how you would have 2 on the drivers side though? With a drag link and tie rod I don't get where a 5th one would be. Please explain because now you got me curious.

are you sure it is not to set up the front end for rhd?

like was said above there is one at the steering box, one in front of the pass side wheel, one behind pass side wheel, one behind drivers side wheel total of 4

You have a pic of what you're talking about? There's a spot on the drivers side knuckle for a TRE because the same axle was used on right and left hand drive trucks. 4 is how many you should have, not 5.

What hes talking about is the "blank" on the other side of the axle, it is for RHD trucks, if look at it you can see it is exactly the same as the side that is hooked up, only its not.
My mind is fried right now, been a long day, so I cant think of the proper names for stuff right now, but you guys get it.
