For fun for once
Nothing about broken rovers. Just spitballing. This is about the long term goals i may or may not have for this truck. So if the eventual plan is for bigger tires, somewhere around the 33" range (maybe a tad higher) what makes more sense? HD ashcrofts and taller gears in the factory landrover stuff or just swapping the whole shebang out for something else? I know some people do dana's but there are apparently very few that have the offset rear, and the older ones run drums. Some people say buy super long Dana's and then hack them to make them an offset. Lets say thats not an option. There are some toyota/lexus axels that work does it make more sense to do something like that than work with the factory stuff? What is everyone's thought on this. If you were building a truck, hypothetically with a 3" ish lift and wanted to squish some tires in there, dont worry about the radius arms etc, what would you do for your axels?

can you even find those things though? They look pretty ridiculous, but then there's no offset in the rear so you'd essentially be fabbing everything from scracth. This sounds more up YOUR alley than mine...hahaha

Toyota FJ80 axles are probably the easiest swap next to finding a set of salisbury axles. Rovertraks makes a nice setup using LR axle housing and Toyota guts. The LR axles are plenty stong enough for 33s with heavy duty axles, locker, and gears.

heavy duty axels 450, lockers 800, and gears 150(?) and this is PER axel???? ugh... this truck makes my stomach hurt. I saw that build of the fj80 with the portals, pretty awesome. I told you, come build your garage in philly, next to my house and we'll turn my truck into the frankenstein. I'll put 'mog axels on it. I dont care.

The more unique you get, the more dollars you're throwing into it and if it does not hold up or destroys other items you're screwed. You might see what these guys have. I want to get one of their rigs!
