Got me a new toy :D 95 v8i

Hey all some of you may remember I had a issue with my 96 Disco 1 and it throwing a miss fire code. Well got that all fixed and big thank you to all that helped :) The whole issue gave me a new respect and understanding for the 4.0 in it. Well that being said the other day we found a 95 Disco 1 on CL for 750. Well needless to say went and looked, and picked it up for 600 cause the guy was awesome.

Well this one is a v8i rather than a SD, and came with the 3.9L rather than the 4.0. The guy said it overheats and he could never figure out why. After trying many things (yes the basics) he gave up. Well as it sits now it wont even fire up, probably cause been sitting for ages. But no water in the oil, oil is free of any metal flakes. So those are good signs right there.

Later on will post up some pics of both my SD, and then the new v8i for ya. And keep ya posted on what all was wrong and such.

Congrats, and best of luck on the trouble shooting

Thanks, So far have isolated one issue. (cant remember the name of the part lol) But under the plenum cover that goes to the MAF tube there is a part that takes 2 coolant lines. Well apparently someone dunno who in their intelligence cut the far hose (the one closest to drivers side) and then unhooked the hose on the left. They then took and hooked the hose that was on the left onto the position that the cut hose on the right should have gone to. That's just my first wtf.. lol I'm sure there will be more. And keep ya posted :)

Hello just a little update with some pictures. The order goes first is my 96 4.0 SD which is the one I had so much fun tearing apart the motor and replacing parts just to find the issue was a bad head gasket lol, the second is the new toy a 95 3.9 v8i. And the picture with the hoses is the part that I was talking bout. Tried to get it to fire today but no luck, gonna try some good gas(as the gas smells not rancid but not good) and some fuel additive/cleaner. Will keep ya posted :)

Some help please

Hello so got to toying with it, and its acting like it isn't getting any fuel, and when I try to pressure test the line barely any fuel dribbles out. There is good power to the fuse for the pump, but back at the pump when I tested the wire connector(while it was unplugged from pump) the light was on but dim. Not sure if maybe got a bad pump or perhaps something is broke(insulation on wire/wire strands) or what not. Thanks in advance :D

the light was on but dim
Referring to test light versus using a meter? Should be a relay between fuse and pump, have you checked that/there? If good could be high resistance from there to pump connector.
......

the larger of the hoses, iirc goes to your pvc valve.
have you tried 12vt right to the pump, to see if it spins

Yeah meant testing light, forgot to put that in, never did learn how to use a meter lol, I should one day. Will check on that and nupe haven't tried 12v to the pump not sure exactly how I would to be honest. But am willing to give it a shot.

on your '96 4.0 you still have the black overflow tank. those are known to spring a leak at the seam. switch to the clear tank soon.

Oh will do since the 95 3.9 came with extra clear tanks :P, so I pulled the fuel pump and left the wires hooked up, tested with my light tester and the power is still getting there but no power on the pump. Tried hooking it up directly to 12v after looking up how lol, and still nothing so am guessing that this pump be dead.
